Mother's Day VISE Picnic on Corporate Venturing @Posterous

(Place and time: Picnic House, Prospect Park, Brooklyn, NY,   1 pm to 6 pm)

The morning was filled with light showers, while forecasts from the previous days announced chances of thunderstorm and rainy precipitation which I know threw most of you off track of sending in RSVP's to the last minute.

However, lo and behold, by noon, the rain had stopped, and the resplendent weather could not be more virtuous to show off the sun.

It was a great gathering and what a Mother's Day indeed, as Susanna (social media and writer) came along with Sandy, her mother, who taught us a few innovative tricks with tossing greek salad, a la fruity strawberries and the kalamatas.

As the Grill delayed in picking up heat for itself, the charcoal after a few attempts finally became ashy white on the outer layers, by which time allowed us to cook sizzling hot marinated turkey burgers, 1/3 pould steaks, and spicy feta sausages.

Other clams that were above the flames to join our palette were also grilled to perfection, albeit, the sauteed long sweet, red peppers and other green and yellow peppers also made their usual way as toppings on our sandwiches without being eaten raw or separately by themselves.

Overall, the food was great, and before I move on, yes, let's discuss our appetizer:

VocabSushi !!!! Now that you missed it, or you don't find any relevant meanings from the photos, please go to: http://www.vocabsushi.com , and there you will find, Jeff Novick's brainchild, an online platform that has been programmed to adapt to your learning, while spitting out questions commensurate with your knew knowledge of words and need for fitting them into the right sentences, so that at the end, you will able to proudly write as a NY Times professional, and thankfully enough in a stretch of bite-sized adventures into advanced words and catchy, erudite and a bit pedantic sentences, ace all your GRE to GMAT by raising your verbal scores. If the sushi roll is too much to digest , or not meant for you , at the moment, please look over your shoulder, and you can ascertain that somebody this year will be writing the SAT, GRE or GMAT, or anything involving a workout with every English course's nightmare: learning new vocabulary and at the same time being able to use them right, as well as, effectively at right times, so you don't embarrass yourself as a pretentious $100 word whore.

So, that's Jeff in a nutshell, and his sushi galore of new words are more fitting for a discussion on --how on Earth-- he devised it, implemented the plans and executed the website, so users can log on and simply start the training process. One would think that many engineers would be involved, including linguistic aficionados, but I just know he had the might and will to do it because of his double degrees in Physics and Journalism at Johns Hopkins, and later a Masters in Journalism from Columbia. Not just that, he also knew how to efficiently instruct the hired programmers on how to engineer the online platform, in what you see there when you type in vocabsushi.com on your iPad , iPhone, or any PC you are using at home or at the office!

We will be throwing more VISE picnic shindigs, so stay tuned, as we will also host them with more speakers and experts in both startups and corporate ventures!

As we conclude, I am happy to repeat: THE VISE stands for: to venture Innovate Succeed and Engage!  We are the alumni of Cornell, Columbia, UPENN, Yale and Priceton, and first starting at NYU.

THE VISE is a philosophy as we holistically render the kinds of woodwork we can perform on ourselves by supporting the broad network by finding specific solutions from our members (whether you are a startup, entrepreneur, or the senior executive within your corporation) for our members, and to promote each other, and to transcend above our own individual lap of luxury, and that would take courage, hope, and a unite front to allow the VISE fit all of you.

For those of you official VISE'ers and friends who did make it to our winsome picnic, I really thank you. I really enjoyed both organizing it and also spending Mother's Day weekend with you. No rain, only sunshine!

All the best,
